In my role as a design teacher, I measure success by the ability to stimulate students’ innate curiosity. My goal is to steer them towards uncovering their unique approach to design, encouraging an enduring pursuit of learning that contributes to their projects with new knowledge and insights. Currently, I have the pleasure of teaching at The Hague University of Applied Sciences within the Industrial Design Engineering International Program.
Design Education
Background in Design and Education
My professional journey has equipped me with a unique blend of design competences and pedagogical knowledge. After shifting my focus to design education, I furthered my qualifications through a didactic competence program at The Hague University of Applied Sciences and a Design MA in Action Research for Reflective Practice in Design from Northumbria University. I contribute to curriculum development as a member of IDE’s quality curriculum committee. Currently, I balance teaching with my design practice, where I lead and collaborate on social design and research projects.
Reflection in Design
My teaching philosophy centers around empowering students to become reflective practitioners. As a Mexican-Dutch designer with experience navigating diverse cultural contexts, I've learned firsthand that reflection is the catalyst for meaningful work. I steer my students to embrace reflection as a tool to continuously improve their work and stay adaptable in an ever-changing field.
